Why subscribe?
Please join me as I wonder aloud about the theology of grace. I have an inkling that creativity and grace are either best friends or two aspects of the same thing. Subscribe if you would like to see me explore this idea in real time and have ready access to all of the essays on my website.
Incarnational Study Series
Three times a year, Advent, Lent, and mid year, I will be posting resources from the Missional Wisdom Foundation’s Incarnational Study Series. If you subscribe, you will receive all of these resources in your inbox. These studies typically have two or three spine texts that are read throughout the study. I read all of the resources and write an essay each week that tries to synthesize the different texts. Each week of the study has an accompanying web page with curated resources for going deeper with the spine texts. For each week of the study there are liturgies provided for group or individual use.
In addition to these, as a Spirited Words subscriber, you will receive writing prompts and spiritual practice prompts.
Support My Research
In 2008, I began my first blog, Thoughts on Dirt, as a new mother and flailing gardener. I completely failed at writing about gardening as my dedication to the yard is sporadic, but I fell in love with writing. Sitting with my toes in the river of creativity became my favorite addiction. As I wrote my way through becoming a mother, grief, six moves, and two books, I learned to trust writing. It has become my partner and way to mine the wisdom of the universe for deep truth.
I began writing theology officially as a part of the Missional Wisdom Foundation in 2016, and became fascinated with the idea of grace. I pursued the idea to the University of Edinburgh where I received by MSc in Philosophy of Science and Religion. I am now taking micro-baby-steps toward my dream of getting a PhD in theology/philosophy and donning elbow patches and teaching.
I am developing my Substack as a means to get there. Through my writing here I will be working out ideas relevant to my research, doing close reads of the thinkers I will be studying. If you are interested in helping me parse through the readings through comments and chat, letting me know what works and what doesn’t, and supporting my work financially (if I work up my courage to create a subscription), please subscribe.
